It had been a few months since D used his science book to try an experiment, so I figured that while Nana and Papa were in town it would be a good time to do another one (so somebody else could supervise). So Papa and D picked an experiment involving gases, which made them both chuckle, and got right to work.
vinegar + baking soda will inflate a balloon
Here they are reading the instructions to make sure everything is in order. Baking soda - check. Vinegar - check. Bottle - check. Balloon - check. Audience - check. Photographer - check.
The vinegar is in the bottle. The baking soda is in the balloon. The balloon is attached to the bottle. What is going to happen when the soda is dumped into the bottle??
This little guy can't wait to see what happens. (And he really wishes he were on the counter. And if Nana hadn't been there he probably would've thrown a huge fit because he wasn't on the counter.)
It's working! Those gases are working! They are blowing up the balloon! (As a side note, I was actually quite surprised at how well it worked. I was skeptical.)
Here's D showing the experiment and the final result.
No, he didn't love the experiment that much...Papa is now making squealing noises with the balloon.
Which Nana enjoyed too. Lieutenant didn't know what was going on.After everything settled down, we went ahead and did the experiment again. Because it was just that cool.

That was a lot of fun--even for papa. Best part of the review were the little eyes peeking over the counter.
I got aiden that book! Can't wait to try it out!
What book is he looking at? Can you tell I'm gearing up for both boys being home all summer? I need stuff to do with'em that doesn't involve lots of leaving the house will the bebe in tow...
