PROJECT: Go To The Bathroom
The other day I had to convince D to let me go to the bathroom without throwing a fit (him not me). I don't know why, but sometimes he gets really mad when I tell him I have to go to the bathroom (probably cuts into his valuable play time). So I had this great idea to show him a Bob the Builder pillowcase that I bought a while back when I found a great deal on a sheet set for a twin bed. I kept telling him, "After mommy goes to the bathroom I have something to show you." It worked. And the payoff was even better than expected. Not only did I get to go to the bathroom in semi-peace, but he was obsessed with the pillowcase (kind of like he was with a grape I picked for him the other day - I swear he played with it for like 40 minutes - that's right, a grape). He only knows Bob the Builder from a Bob book we read at the library last week. I guess that was enough. He loved the pillowcase, particularly because Bob wears a hard hat (like the cheap-o plastic one D got at the sweet "fair" last week) and because there are all sorts of construction vehicles on it. We brought the pillowcase into the family room where he proceeded to put on his hard hat and drove all of his construction trucks on it. We also sang a few hearty verses of the Bob song: Bob the Builder, Can We Fix It, Yes we CAN! I don't even know if that's how it goes...I was kind of rolling my own.

What a cute kid! And by the way, you totally got the words right. I know this because my nephews were obsessed with Bob the Builder when they were younger. So ya, I know the whole song. By heart. Yay.
Yes! That's my kind of little man, easily distracted with things that have to do with Bob the Builder.
That boy is so cute! Luke has a Star Wars pillow case with Han Solo on one side and Chewbacca on the other. He thinks Chewy is a dog and when I asked about Han Solo, he said it was dad. Yes, my son, we can all dream Harrison Ford is your father. Just kidding, Trav.
Oh yes! Bob the builder, scoop, muck, dizzy, rolly too, and lofty and wendy joining the crew. Pilchard and Spud, they just have so much fun. Ang, working together we get the job done!
haha taht is so funny!! i just found a bob hard hat for liam. so now they will be twinners!!why does it seem like you are always going out and doing fun things? and why arent i there with you?
I thought you were going to say that D is already potty training! Whatever works, eh? Lucky for you that it kept him busy!
