This summer went by A LOT faster than we would've liked. Before we knew it, it was time for school to start again. And this year is a big year for us - first grade. Remember Kindergarten? When the kids are only in school for like three hours? And then they go to first grade and they are gone for seven loooooooong hours?? Let's just say we've started our countdown chain for next summer! I miss having my D home all day, but I know he is having fun and learning a lot at school. He is part of a Spanish immersion program, so half of his school day is devoted 100% to Spanish. His teacher speaks no English to the class at all. Ever. Even to parents. I am surprised at all of the things he has learned in just a month, and the two little boys are counting in Spanish now too thanks to D! (Lt does a pretty good job from 1 to 10, and Nono just goes around saying "ocho cinco" all the time - not sure why). I better dust off my
Spanish for Dummies or I'm not going to know what is going on around this house. The English half of his school day consists of reading, spelling, math and fun specialties like music, art, gym, library, and computers. Of course every day when I ask him what his favorite part of the day was, he always says recess (he gets three of them!); and when I ask him what his least favorite part of the day was, he almost always says lunch. Go figure.
Here he is on the first day! He was a little nervous, but he did great!
Paul dropped him off in his Spanish classroom - he's all ready to go!
