Water coloring

This was listed as a craft on the website D and I go to for craft ideas, but I think it's more of an experiment than a craft. It required no effort to set up or execute, but D thought it was fun and asked to do it again the next day. Our version of the "craft" included filling up three plastic cups with water; coloring them red, yellow, and blue; and then getting a bunch of empty cups for mixing.

D's mixing up the yellow (and taking his part very seriously)

He mixed the yellow and red to make...you guessed it - orange!

Here goes the yellow and blue. He already knew this one would make green so it wasn't too exciting.

And last but not least, the red and blue mix.

And after that, I just let him have a free-for-all and mix whatever colors he wanted. He really liked that. Everything ended up brown. Oh, and he wanted to drink all of the colored water too (before they were all brown) until I explained that even though they were pretty colors, it was still just water. And he made me save all the cups so that Paul could see them when he was done working.

That looks like a whole lot of fun, and what a good way to begin learning about color theory

You have a lot of great ideas. If I ever have a kid, I'm gonna have to hire you to raise it. :)
