Play dough

I finally mustered up the courage to let the boys play with their Play Doh the other day only to find out that it was dried out. No worries - I decided to make my own! (I'm pretty sure I tried this before...) I found a "recipe" online that got lots of good reviews. I thought it sounded like it might be better than the usual homemade recipes because it had a little oil in it. Well, after adding about twice as much water as the recipe called for (or so it seemed), it was still not so great (and my arms were getting really tired from trying to make the stuff pliable), but we played with it anyway. It dried out super fast and made a huge mess in the kitchen. But D had a ton of fun and played with it for a super long time. Lieutenant played with it on and off, but was generally disinterested (apart from trying to sneak bites of it while I wasn't looking). I don't think I'll be trying another homemade recipe again for a long time unless somebody I know promises that they have one that will work. I mean, it seems simple enough - mix some stuff together and voila (kind of like the granola I tried to make the other day which almost made me cry)! Anyway, after we cleaned up the mess, we added some water to the dried out Play Doh and let it sit for a couple of days - good as new!!

Next time mix together the ingredients for bread, have the guys help you mix and knead it,then when all are tired throw it into the oven. Voila. Fresh homemade bread!

You are so brave! I am fearful of play doh and kids who have access to play doh. It's an inherited trait.

I had a playdoh throwdown a few years ago and found my favorite playdoh ever. Takes like 3 minutes to make. The koolaid adds the color and makes it smell yummy. Try it. Just try it. *wink*

Ohh my mama has an awesome recipe she uses. It's not quite play-doh but it's cool stuff and the kids love it. Maybe I'll get the recipe, if you're interested. :)
