Nontoxic
Our craft du jour on this particular day was making St. Patrick's Day pasta necklaces. Well, when you are doing something this fun, how can you limit yourself to just green paint?? You can't. So they quickly became just regular pasta necklaces. Sounds more boring, but in reality, way more exciting. I found lots of "recipes" for pasta paint, but they all called for rubbing alcohol. And they were all quick to say - not edible. Well, that doesn't work for us around here since the Lieutenant believes that everything should go in his mouth immediately upon introduction. So in an act of desperation (D had been waiting days for this craft), we just used the regular old nontoxic Crayola paint. And it actually worked pretty good (way better than I thought it would). Good enough for a four-year-old!
We got all the pasta painted and even had enough paint left over to paint noses and hands (I am not excluded).
This was probably the best part of the whole craft for D. He loved trying to paint my nose while I pretended to get mad about it (okay, I might have actually been a little irritated there toward the end).
Here they are! We had to make one for Lieutenant too, of course. And he loves it! (Oh and Lieuten has not even attempted to put the necklace in his mouth - go figure!) Next time we do this we will not use penne pasta. It's a little sharp!!
I don't know what is going on here, but it's a funny picture so I had to include it.

You always do so many cool projects and crafts with the kids! Way to go, they look fun! And daylight savings...I don't know about you but I don't want to lose an hour of sleep!
The photo with paint on the face is a Paul face if I have ever seen one!
