Lt turns four

The boys got a combined birthday present this year - a trampoline - and they got it about a month before either of their birthdays (because that's when the trampoline was on sale!). After we initially presented the trampoline idea to them and they were both on board, I told D that the trampoline would be the only birthday present either of them got from us and Nana and Papa. Well, after he heard that, he instantly decided that he in fact did not want a trampoline - "maybe next year". Lt was super sad because he really wanted a trampoline and he's too young to be worried about how many presents he gets. Finally after we told D that he would still get a present from Uncle Jeff, he was okay with the plan again (for the record, they both got way more than just "a present from Uncle Jeff").

------------

So Lt celebrated his 4th birthday this summer. He was super super super excited! Such a happy kid! On his big day he of course got to take the gratuitous trip to Toys'R'Us so he could collect his free loot and spend his $3 gift card. The rest of the birthday festivities consisted of the usual singing, cake eating, confetti throwing, and present opening. Oh, and D played "Happy Birthday" for him on the piano - bonus!!

The presents are piling up already. Lots of Hot Wheels tracks!!

Even an Angry Birds Hot Wheels track?! Best birthday ever.

After weeks of Lt insisting on a Wild Kratts birthday cake (I think D was actually behind that whole campaign since he wasn't going to have a cake on his birthday), I convinced him that a squid cake would be way more awesome. Thank goodness he agreed. I also talked him into having a chocolate cake (I couldn't find a white/yellow cake recipe that looked good!) and it was delicious!! Lt tried maybe a bite of the actual cake and then he and D opted to just eat the tentacles (frosting) and candies. Nono, on the other hand, LOVED the cake and ate a lot. I need to remember that for his birthday next year.

Got all the candles extinguished - way to go!

And Nono thought all of Lt's presents were for him! Try explaining that to a two-year-old, especially one who just had a birthday and the presents were all for him! Lt was a way good sport though and let Nono carry around his presents.
