Our favorite time of year?

While we have all been enamored with the little treasures the spring season is bringing, our insightful neighbor (he's been around a while) let us know that he thinks this is the worst time of year because of all the yard work that has to be done. We enthusiastically agreed since he was letting us borrow his pruning shears. There really is a lot of work to be done at our house though - more than we'll be getting to any time soon. But while we may not be doing any real landscaping for some time, we decided that we may as well chop down some trees. I don't know what the people who originally landscaped this property were thinking, but we have some of the worst trees ever - some might call them "trash trees". They serve no purpose and make a mess. Annoying. We also have seven fruit trees and we don't can/bottle anything. So here's how we spent last weekend and will probably spend many more weekends to come...

Paul firing up the chainsaw

Uncle Jon risking his life

D deciding that swinging was more fun than watching

D wanting to help climb the tree and chop it down after he got tired of swinging

All gone...except for a massive stump

Oh, my father would cry real tears if he saw these pictures. His motto is NEVER KILL A TREE. Even if the tree was leaking poisonous sap that was killing his kids he'd say FORGET KIDS, SAVE TREE.

I'm gonna show this post to Hunter. Maybe he will be grateful we don't have a yard, now. LOL! That looks like a lot of work, dude. Ugh! But I'm sure it will be awesome when you're finished. :)
