Zoo surprise

I knew that Snacks would love the zoo. For the last few weeks he has been really into reading animal books. Well, there's not really much reading going on, just lots of animal noises. And he wants to "read" the same books over and over and over. And D, well, he's always game to go to the zoo. Especially when it's a surprise trip. And especially when the other surprise is Uncle Jeff meeting us there! The day was beautiful - perfect weather. The zoo was crowded, which is always kind of a pain, but toward the end it wasn't bad. Now on to the pictures (which I have a ton of but am sparing you 50 photos of my kids at the zoo and am just choosing a few of my super super favorites).

First stop - the turkeys. Snacks would have been happy if that was all he'd seen.

We thought we were lucky when we saw this elephant cruising around. I kind of wondered why it wasn't more crowded where we were...

Well it was because everybody was checking out this little guy! There were quite a few babies at the zoo.

This little pointer finger got a huge workout.

When did they get a carousel at the zoo??? Regardless, D really wanted to go on it. He's riding on a gorilla.

Every time he came around and passed us he would make some kind of funny face. This time it was "Look mom - no hands!".

It's a giraffe!

Oh and a baby giraffe!

For some reason D couldn't get enough of these beetles.

Snacks taking a break from the animal watching and practicing his "kisses" on Uncle Jeff.

Happy zoo-goer!

Snacks on the zoo train. I don't think it ever actually connected that he was in fact on the zoo train (we saw it go by a few times when we were walking around).

And would you expect any other face from D on the zoo train?

Snacks was so happy the whole time and extra happy when he got taken out of the stroller. We all had a great day at the zoo!

Oh and this guy was really freaking us out.

What, you guys went to the zoo and didn't come over for dinner afterwards? Wish I could have gone with ya! Love that pointer finger. :)

OH! You have inspired me to take my girls to the zoo! Especially with all the baby animals. Snacks is so funny and D has the best smiles! Glad you guys had a good time.

What a fun day! Wish we could have been there. The only zoo I experienced was when I subbed yesterday. Some of those students were coughing like trained seals.
