Since we missed the annual City Services Fair last year, we made sure it was on our calendar this year. The fair showcases all the different city departments and has police cars, fire engines, garbage trucks, the Life Flight helicopter, bucket-truck rides, a propane tree burn, and lots more stuff. It's a good time. The first time we went was two years ago when D was just a little guy.
I don't know why they do this fair in October because it is freezing cold. And it was freezing cold the last time we went too. I think maybe if we'd gotten there right when it started it wouldn't have been so cold (or crowded), but as work schedules had it, we couldn't go until the event was well underway. And then when we got there we stood in line for the bucket-truck ride pretty much the entire time. The only reason we waited in line for a half hour (at least) was because that was the only thing that D really wanted to do. He actually was not excited about going at all because he didn't want to hear the loud firetrucks or see the propane tree burn. We had to practically drag him to the car. After the bucket-truck ride, we kind of ran around the perimeter of the fair then hustled back to the car (with plastic fire hats in tow) and turned the heater up full blast. It was seriously cold.

What a cool event! You're right though; wonder why they do it in October. I got cold just reading about it, lol. D is such a riot!
