Hot air

In keeping with tradition (third year running), Paul took the little boys to the annual hot air balloon launch over the Fourth of July weekend. If it hadn't been for D though, they wouldn't have gone at all. Somehow he woke up at 6:00 in the morning and then woke Paul up (who otherwise would have slept until probably 8:00). They woke up a sleepy Lt, piled in the car, and prayed that it wouldn't be too windy for the balloons to launch (remember when that happened last year??). Well, it wasn't too windy and they even made it in time to see the balloons actually inflating before lift-off! Since I wasn't there, I better just get to the pictures before I start making stuff up...

Excited (but kind of sleepy) boys

Watching the balloons go up

Wow - they really stepped it up this year with a Darth Vader balloon!

And this is the tallest hot air balloon in the world. That's right - the world. But I guess it hardly ever flies because the weather conditions have to be absolutely perfect for it to be able to fly (so probably nobody can sneeze within 50 feet of it, which is completely uncontrollable).

Here are the boys pretending to sleep. Or maybe they are asleep?? I don't know...6:00 is pretty early for these boys...

I'm so envious. One day I want to see hot air balloons in person.
