Paleontologist in training
That would be weird if D actually did become a paleontologist. I don't know why. Maybe because I don't actually know any paleontologists? Either way, for the time being, this boy loves dinosaurs. He absolutely loves them. I know I've mentioned it before, but he knows so much about dinosaurs* - names, what they eat, when they lived - and he always wants to know more. We check out books from the library about dinosaurs and we order books from the book order about dinosaurs and we of course check out dino websites online. He loves it all. So naturally, a trip to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point was in order...
Paul and D hit up the museum one late Saturday afternoon. They were there for three hours. They went through the museum twice. And they were pretty much the only ones there. A dream come true for D.
Little man, big dino
And this isn't even in the museum - it's just the foyer!
Like I said, pretty much the only ones there...
Look out behind you!
This guy is pretty tall. Not even his whole leg fit in the camera shot.
A triceratops! (I think...)

Little D weighs about as much as the Othnielia.
D chillin' with the...ankylosaurus? euoplocephalus? nodosaurus? (You'd think I'd know them all too!)
D built a dinosaur...with two heads! (How's it going to poop, buddy?)
D really liked this map. When you press a button by a dinosaur a light on the map brightens to show you where fossils have been found.

*Papa is painting a dinosaur mural for the boys in the playroom. He started off with a T. Rex, based on a picture he printed from the Internet. Well, when D went to check on the progress, he informed Papa that the T. Rex was not in fact a T. Rex, but was an allosaurus because it had three fingers, not two. Papa then asked D how many toes the T. Rex had and D told him three, not the two that Papa had already painted. Fixed and fixed! (Papa loves this story.)

I love it! We visited dinosaur national monument on our way home from Thanksgiving, and I decided I should have been a paleontologist. Maybe D and I can go to school together. I'll probably have to cheat off his tests and stuff.
That. Is. The. Greatest. Story. EVER! (About the mural, I mean.) That kid is a genius! I'm still trying to get my 5-year-old to stop picking his nose!
Wow...he's sure a smart little cookie!
