This Land is Your Land

D's elementary school put on a patriotic program last week. He was sick (still) so we weren't sure if he would be able to participate, which would've made the previous two weeks of him singing "This Land is Your Land" and "God Bless America" at home about 7 million times in preparation for the program all for nothing. So thank goodness he was in decent enough shape the morning of the program for us to send him off to school, where a miraculous event occurred - he rode the bus. He has refused to attend any off-campus field trip his entire Kindergarten career because he has been afraid of riding the bus (he claims it's because there are no seatbelts, but I'm not buying it since he never wants to wear his seatbelt while riding in the car). The bus was only going a few blocks to the high school where they were practicing for the program, but nevertheless, he rode the bus. And to show off his blooming independence and bravery even further, he followed through and actually participated in the program that night ("in front of all the other moms and dads"). Quite an accomplishment for our little man!

And this is how Lt spent the evening (games on Uncle Jon's phone) while Nono ran up and down our aisle trying to get into other people's coats and bags. Lovely.

hilarious! Aiden was very nervous to go on his first field trip by bus too! And he too said it was because there weren't any seatbelts! Funny kids!
