One

Snacks is one year old. I can't think of anything drippy and sentimental to say about my little baby growing up because frankly, babies (at least my babies) are hard. Snacks was just as hard as D was when he was a baby, albeit in different ways. So we closed our eyes and just trudged through those first four, or five, or six months. Ya, I would say six months. Maybe seven? Regardless, we are loopy for this little guy. It's hard to remember how hard it was now that he is so happy, and claps, and smiles (huge, cheeseball smiles), and points, and tries to play cars with D, and babbles, and sleeps all night, and eats like a champ, and on and on. This kid never stops! From the second he wakes up in the morning (and I have braced myself for his whirlwind of destruction enough to get him out of his crib) I am moving as fast as he is to make sure that all cups with liquid are out of his reach (ask Nana), no cords are within his reach, the gate is intact, all bathroom doors (and outside doors) are shut, the cupboards to the garbage can and fish food are shut, and on and on. The kid is exhausting! But just seeing his little buck teeth when he smiles (at anybody or anything or nothing for that matter) makes it all worth it. I would take a bullet for him.

Here are some pictures from Snacks' big day (big week actually due to poor gift planning by numerous parties - good thing he's one and doesn't even care about anything except boxes and eating paper).

The balloons were a bigger hit than the presents. Snacks was mesmerized. He loved them and tried to eat them (unsuccessfully).

D loved the balloons more than Snacks. Every single one of them is still inflated today, and D wants to play with them still every day. Maybe we won't have to blow any more up for his birthday??

Snacks is confused by all the rowdy birthday singing.

I shouldn't have fed him dinner, because I don't think he was really hungry when it was time for his cupcake. He gave it the old college try, but then...

dropped 90% of it on the floor. On purpose. Like he does at every meal. (And then later on he eats the scraps off of the floor.)

Snacks AND big brother are curious about what's in the bag.

Cute! Just a few more months and he'll be sporting that outfit.

D gave little brother a cute guitar. No ulterior motives at all... Snacks is showing off his dance moves!

Another cute toy from Uncle Jeff

A really fun toy from Nana and Papa

This is a shot of the after party - where Snacks got naked and tried to rip down his decorations. (Sorry it's not the best shot of you Uncle Jeff, but check out how stoked Snacks is!!)
