(For some unknown reason, D calls our good friend Grant "ducks". No idea...)
To celebrate D's second birthday, we had a killer party. Papa (the only one with asthma) generously blew up about 60 balloons (refusing to blow up any pink ones, except one for Kaya) to decorate for little D's big day. To the balloons we added a barbecue, some streamers, party hats, birthday cake, pinata, presents, and friends, and a good time was had by all.

D loved the balloons, thought the cake was decent at best, really liked his presents, and was excited to see his friends (especially Uncle Jon who D thinks has been perpetually at work since he moved out of our basement a couple weeks ago). D was overjoyed when he got some new cars and he kept trying to go off and play cars by himself instead of opening any other presents. We did manage to make it through all the presents and he got some cool stuff - thanks everyone! One of his favorite new toys is a train set from Nana and Papa. Every morning he requests "choo-choo" when he wakes up.

D is really a little boy now. He is doing and saying new things all the time and it is SO FUN! One thing that I think is so funny is that right about the time he turned two he started saying no! He never said it before and we don't say it that much to him, so I have no idea where it came from...maybe it just comes with the territory of becoming a defiant, independent toddler. Ha ha! It's actually pretty cute!
Happy Birthday Little D! Mama and Da-ya love you!

sweetheart boy! i love him. those cakes are awesome too. nice work.
Happy Birthday D!
It is amazing how some things (like no) seem to come with the age...Sweetsa has started throwing the most awful temper tantrums this week (her b-day is Friday).
Thanks for all the cute pics of D. It's fun to watch your little guy grow!
