Here's Lt. immediately after he woke up from his nap...trying to process why there were fifty balloons in the family room and why D was jumping up and down and chattering excitedly at warp speed. Don't worry, D showed him the ropes and they were playing with the balloons for like an hour (so we had time to frost the cake!).
No-No checking out the balloons and streamers hanging from the kitchen light. Okay, he's probably just checking out the kitchen light.
D had to take party planning into his own hands and went into my room and dug these hats (from his second birthday party) out for everyone to wear because what would a party be without Lightning McQueen hats choking the life out of you?
Here are the boys getting choked out by their party hats. Papa had to sneak in a picture since he's usually behind the camera (it's kind of his unofficial job). I like how it looks like he's holding the balloon there as a prop.
And the best birthday present of all?? Hanging out with Nana, of course. These two love each other like crazy.
Paul knew this was the cake for Lt the second he saw it because of Lt's obsession with ants. He can spot an ant from a mile away. And when he does, everything else must cease immediately so the ant can be observed. And then smashed.
Lt had no idea what was going on with the birthday singing or the fire on top of his cake (Nana was a good coach and so he did blow out his candles). Let's be honest, he didn't know what was going on with giant ants on top of a cake, or that it even was a cake in the first place. I am just grateful that as a result of this cake he in fact did not attempt to eat any actual ants afterward.

I am so happy that at least one kid likes to eat birthday cake. (D tried the cake plain and said he liked it and he asked for more! But then after he was eating his "more" he said he didn't like it because it made his teeth itch.) Lt. really did a great job eating his cake until the ice cream came out, then all he wanted was ice cream. He was eating it so fast that he kept getting brain freeze over and over. And over.
Present time! These got hidden very quickly after several people almost sustained fatal injuries from wild golf swings. (They're outside now.)
and for D!! She said that with her kids she could never stand for the siblings not to get something small too. (She's a lot nicer than us!) Look at how pleased D is!!
So when this little trike was first brought out for Lt, he started crying and saying "no" until we took it away. Weird.
And with all of the people, food, balloons, and new presents inside, Lt. just wanted to go outside for some sidewalk chalk drawing with Uncle Jeff.Happy birthday Lt!!! We sure love your cute little face! Oh, and P.S. you are pretty crazy!!!

That is the coolest Ant Cake I have ever seen. (I must admit, I have never seen an Ant Cake, but none can ever compare now).
