Few things

There are very, very few things in this little guy's world that hold his attention for more than...um...30 seconds. That makes accomplishing tasks like cooking dinner or putting a few dishes in the dishwasher virtually impossible. Well one night when I was putting together a salad, Snacks came charging (his aggressive crawl) into the kitchen (before Paul even noticed he was absent from playing trains) and demanded that I pick him up. I picked him up and he spotted a cucumber I was getting ready to peel and cut. He immediately started signing "more". I was desperate for the use of both hands so I set him down with the unpeeled (washed) cucumber. The kid sat still for at least five minutes. He didn't move at all - not even when I left the cupboard where the garbage can is open for a few minutes. He just sat there and gnawed on the monster cucumber. Sweet relief!

In an attempt to replicate my cucumber-distracting-Snacks victory, the other morning I handed over another cucumber so I could load the dishwasher. Well, he didn't sit still this time, but instead took the cucumber en route. I found it in the boys' room behind a little chair when I was done.

How random! One time when Braxton was B's age, he was CRACKING UP over aluminum foil! We would crinkle and squish it and he thought is was the most hilarious thing ever. I guess when everything is new to you, it's a heck of a lot more exciting...

Tyler is exactly the same way! He doesn't care much for toys, but will open and close doors/cabinets, flip light switches, or push buttons for hours. He doesn't like sliced apples, but will eat one whole--clear down to the seeds! Crazy kids!
