I know I have mentioned this before, but there is no Easter bunny at our house. I just don't see the point. We do have Easter baskets though (so don't feel bad for the kiddos) and this year we decided to hide D's basket and have him go on a treasure hunt to find it. He absolutely LOVED it. Since D doesn't like most candy (are you surprised?) our baskets are a little more, er, unconventional. We threw a couple little things in D's basket for Snacks too, but as you can see in the picture below, he didn't care. He was completely content playing with D's first treasure hunt clue. Babies are so weird!
Here is Snacks, stoked on a piece of paper (pay no attention to the cute little book or stuffed toy...).
D on the other hand was very excited to get some new little readers. (Notice Snacks in the background - after about five minutes of intense paper shaking, he got bored and was just rolling around the family room haphazardly.)After the baskets, breakfast, and brother in bed (Snacks), it was time to move on to egg coloring - a highly anticipated activity for D. I didn't make the connection until later, but D came into my room earlier in the morning with his bag of markers and asked me when we were going to color the eggs. The whole time he thought that we were going to actually color the eggs with markers. When we were done dyeing the eggs he asked me again when we were going to color the eggs and that's when I realized what he thought was going to happen. It was pretty cute.
This is Paul's favorite picture from the activity. He thinks it looks like it could be a movie poster...or the front page of a newspaper - "Unimpressed boy colors dazzling yellow Easter egg while equally unimpressed father observes in the background". Sounds like a headliner to me!

I love that look on D's face in Paul's favorite photo. It's a classic.
We totally do that too (everything on Saturday) and we don't do the Easter bunny but we have the hunt and they get baskets....I don't know I guess I can only deal with one deception a year (Santa Clause)
