A swing and a miss

D has never wanted to dress up for Halloween or go trick-or-treating, and we have never made him. What's the point? He really stresses out around people he doesn't know and he doesn't eat candy (except for the occasional lollipop).

We were very surprised when about a week and a half ago he informed us that he wanted to be a baseball player for Halloween. What? And go trick-or-treating? Yep, the whole nine yards. Well, I kind of suspected that the whole thing wouldn't really come to fruition, so thank goodness a baseball player costume can be improvised last minute (and let's be honest, there is no costume sewing or shopping going on around here):

Baseball hat - a little small, but check
Shirt that has something to do with baseball - check
Baseball pants - Paul picked up a pair that D will be able to wear until he's 12 (check)
Baseball shoes - whatever
Baseball bat and glove - check and check

So on Halloween eve, we told D it was time to get dressed for trick-or-treating and all of a sudden he did NOT want to put on his baseball costume and he did NOT want to go trick-or-treating. Well, we weren't going to give in that easily, not after we went through all the work of buying baseball pants (ha ha). So Paul wrestled him into his baseball player costume and they went trick-or-treating. To two houses. That's it. He collected a bag of fruit snacks and three Kit-Kats. He was so proud of his Kit-Kats when he got home. Paul unwrapped one for him. D took one look at it and said, "I don't like that." Thank goodness he likes fruit snacks or it would've been a complete bust. He did have fun hiding in the shadows and checking out the snazzy costumes of the kids who came trick-or-treating at our house.

Today he told me that he wants to be a crab for Halloween...

Before trick-or-treating D and I gave caramel apples a shot.

These pants really are cracking me up.

No joke, he did NOT want to go trick-or-treating. Look at how unamused he is.

So proud of his "loot"

We decided to throw D's Superman cape on little brother so he wouldn't feel left out.

Happy Halloween!

He is seriously so funny and random! I'm cracking up about the "Grape Ape" comment, too. I love it.

He's bound to be a health-conscious adult at that rate. What kid doesn't love to devour a kit kat?! Hilarious.

At least he gave you a year's notice on the crab costume, good luck with that one. In about half of our Halloween pictures one or a few of the kids are crying. They love the idea of costumes, but apparently posing in them is traumatic stuff. D looks very cute.
