Four things

Home Alone. Two weekends ago Paul and Jeff went to Laguna Beach for four days so Paul could go to the skimboarding competition of the year. D and I stayed home. Alone. For four days. We probably won't do that ever again (stay home alone)! The boys had a great time eating In-N-Out every day, hanging out at the beach, staying at a PLUSH hotel where they had prime rib for breakfast, and Paul even got a private skimboarding lesson from the Michael Jordan of skimboarding - Paulo Prietto. D and I had a good time doing our regular thing and missing "da-ya" to pieces. After I skillfully explained that "da-ya" went on an airplane, we had this conversation at least 100 times a day:

D: Da-ya?
Me: Where's da-ya?
D: (insert airplane noise)

The only actual proof of their adventures in Laguna include these pictures: (1) Jeff eating an In-N-Out burger that is clearly much too large for his stomach and (2) D sporting his new Victoria Skim Competition t-shirt (with the EOS logo on the back!) that "da-ya" brought home for him!

Stormy Skies. After Paul and Jeff returned from their adventure, we all headed down to Brian Head to meet up with my parents for a nice, relaxing (aka NOT camping) mini-vacation. My dad has an annual seminar for some environmental monitoring that he does (aka I have no idea what he does). The seminar is usually in Brian Head and we usually mooch off of their free lodge stay. While the weather was cool and rainy most of the time, it was a great escape from the 100+ weather at home. We swam in the indoor pool, barbecued outside, played "lawn" games, and D had the most fun sitting in a little "dip" (jeep) in front of the lodge. (That is his camera smile in the jeep picture. Ha ha!)

Brave Boy. D went in for his six-month dentist appointment this morning. I tried to prep him days before his appointment, and I think it might have actually helped! I even bought him a Berenstain Bears book about going to the dentist (the Elmo book was too scary). He got a little teary-eyed when I presented him to the dentist, but then he was so good and didn't cry and opened his little mouth right up for the dentist. He did great! When we got home, we asked him a couple of times if he went to the dentist and he just pointed at his teeth and smiled. The only bad news is that he has yet another cavity, so we will head back to the dentist next week to get it filled. Hopefully that doesn't ruin his braveness...it's one thing not to cry when somebody is looking in your mouth, it's another not to cry when somebody is drilling in your mouth.

Hootz. We have attended several Orem Owlz baseball games already this season, but tonight's game was the first one where we had a camera (thanks Biglers!). I think D really likes going to the games. Whenever we even mention baseball he automatically says "owls" which is usually followed with "Hootz" (the team mascot) and some various owl noises. Surprisingly, D actually likes the big scary owl! He always wants to "walk" to see Hootz and always gives him a high-five. I know in this picture he looks a little unsure of the ginormous baseball-headed owl, but he really does like him! By the 7th inning stretch and a rousing verse of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", we are ready to head home where a sweet owl-shaped refrigerator magnet awaits us to remind us of the magic that is the Orem Owlz. Ha ha!

Four Things:

1. I hate it when Billy leaves as well. Nothing seems to go right and Liam wakes up in the middle of the night crying for him.

2. Fun trip with the family! Looks like D and Liam would enjoy a Jeep ride together. Maybe we can figure something out...

3. I am proud of D and his Dentist visit. It reminds me of something I should be doing. Crap.

4. And Owls. The last baseball game I went to was the Orem Owls and with you guys actually. I doubt you remember that though because we are such a distant memory. Wah wah :(

Yay! I missed you. Except I used your absence to justify my own blogging negligence...d'oh! I'd better get on that.

Way to go D! Little kids can be a challenge in the dental chair, so I'm proud that he did so well. Sounds like Paul had a good time at the skimboarding fest. Sorry we couldn't hook up while out west. It was madness running from one family reunion to the next and trying to find a neighborhood to live in after graduation. Oh well, at least I can still stalk you guys on your blog spot! Maybe Christmas will work out.

Yeah, being husbandless is for the birds! Cute little conversation you had with D, though. Isn't it funny how they get obsessions with certain noises, questions, words, foods, movies, etc.?
