The Nevada installment

Even though D was not feeling that well (cough, runny nose), we all packed up and headed to Nevada for New Year's. The picture above captured about 30 minutes of bliss on our trip while all of the noisemakers in the back seat were quiet (Jeff, D, & T). D actually did a great job in the car and didn't even complain until probably the last five minutes of our 4.5 hour drive! Now Jeff & T on the other hand... Caliente was bustling as usual. We even saw one car driving around town upon our arrival!

D was enamored once again with my parents' cats. If one of them sneaked inside the house, they were quickly running for cover as little D would follow them all around. D spent most of his time at the back door pointing at the cats. The rest of his time was spent playing in the cardboard house that Paul made for him or trying to see which bathroom he could shut himself in until someone discovered he was missing.

After we rang in the New Year, we headed even further south to enjoy the tropical climate at Oma and Opa's house in Overton. Once D warmed up, he had fun playing with Oma's big, noisy train; trying to pick the lights off of the little ornamental Christmas tree and pop them in his mouth; dodging the Feliz-Navidad-singing Santa Claus; and going outside to throw sticks at Oma's dog.

It was nice to be home after all of the traveling. D was so exhausted that the first night we were home he slept for 6 or 7 hours straight in his own bed. Not exactly a Christmas miracle, but way better than sleeping only 3 hours straight!
