A Memorial Day

We planned to take a trip up the canyon on Memorial Day, but when we got to the mouth of the canyon traffic was at a complete stand still - ridiculous - so we had to come up with another plan quickly. We decided to take our picnic to D's school and it was perfect - super close to the house and nobody else was there (why would they be?)!

What else do you need for a successful outing with the kids??

Bear was a trooper.

We had fun watching parasails.

 Who invited the monkey?

And we did some swinging.

Lots of swinging.

More swinging.

I truly thought I was going to throw up after ten minutes on the swings. Somehow I kept it together.

A little Bear

Happy, healthy little bear - 25 1/2" tall and 14 lbs 4 oz. Still the reigning heavyweight!

Master Nono

I didn't realize I had a Star Wars theme going, but I think this is the last of the series. It was May 4th, so we decided to do some Star Wars activities. Nono was the only one who wanted Master Yoda ears, and he wore them all day! He even wore them to church the next day!

Clone troopers

I made the little boys some arm bands so they could pretend they were clone troopers. Once they saw the toilet papers rolls they decided they needed binoculars too...

May the force...

Missing: tooth

D lost another tooth! At 5:30 in the morning...

Three months!

I think he's the smiley-est little baby I've ever had.

Easter fun

We had a long weekend of Easter fun. On Friday we had an Easter party with our friends next door. It was awesome - our kids loved it! We dyed eggs, had a yummy dinner, and then had a quick (goes fast with nine kids!) egg hunt. Way, way too much sugar was ingested by the littles that night. We also put puzzle pieces in the plastic eggs for the kids to assemble, but they were more interested in eating candy and playing Star Wars, so the grown-ups put it together (we were not as awesome as we thought we were, just slow). Oh, and I can't forget the delicious carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Yep, it gets its own, personal shout out. Yum.

The big kids dyed a few eggs, but surprisingly it was the younger crowd that was the most interested. Unfortunately, they were also the crowd most likely to accidentally drop their eggs.

Paul and I were stuffing plastic eggs for the hunt, and the boys really, really, really wanted to see the goods...

We also had a family egg hunt on Sunday...

Little Nono collecting eggs

Lt carefully scanning the yard

Better hurry Lt! Here comes D!

He must have spotted something (but overlooked that green egg on the fence...)!

No worries. Boss is on clean up duty.

And the trickiest egg of all to find was hidden under the sprinkler. Whew! Got them all!
Happy Easter! Maybe some day soon all the plastic eggs will have matches so I can put them away until next year (I'm OCD that way).

Snake bite (aka Easter baskets)!

We have the kids go on a treasure hunt to find their Easter baskets (can you tell we like treasure hunts around here?). This year's hunt was especially funny...

Found a clue! Where's Nono? Oh right, he's still too little to care about treasure hunts and was focused on getting food instead.

The last clue led them to this closet to find their baskets. Uh...guys...look down!

Their baskets were literally right in front of them, but they stood there for a good solid minute browsing through the shirts - maybe looking for another clue? It was hilarious!

What? You don't get excited about crackers?! Come on!! They also got some cool bug-catching stuff!

Cousins

We had some fun visitors a couple of weeks ago!
We don't see them often enough!

Look at how much fun they are having!

The fun never stops!

This is a more accurate reflection of all the crazy kids together! See you in the summer, cousins!
